Musk says the mess in Federal government is ‘worse’ than expected

Elon Musk said, “It’s hard to compete with the federal government” when asked whether the mess he found with the Department of Government Efficiency was worse than the one at Twitter when he took over.

“But, on the plus side, that means there’s more opportunity for improvement. So, if you look on the bright side, there’s actually a lot of opportunity for improvement in federal government expenditures because it’s so bad.”

Roughly 76% of voters, including 62% of Democrats, support a “full-scale effort to find and eliminate fraud and waste in government,” according to a recent Harvard CAPS-Harris poll.

“If it was a well-run ship, it would be very difficult to improve,” Musk said. “If people say, ‘Well, how will you figure out how to save money in the federal government?’ Well, it’s like being in a room where the walls, the roof, and floor are all targets.”

“You shoot in any direction — you can’t miss.”

Musk opened up about the federal government’s “magic money” computers that misrepresent the financials senators like Cruz are given.

“I call it [a] magic money computer,” Musk said. “Any computer which can just make money out of thin air. That’s magic money … It just issues payments.”

“And you said there’s something like 11 of these computers at treasury that are sending out trillions in payments?” Cruz asked.

Musk says the computers exist in the Treasury, Health and Human Services, State, and Defense Departments.

“I think we found now 14 magic money computers,” he said. “They just send money out of nothing.”
