Much has been made of the classless displays by congressional Democrats during President Donald Trump’s joint address speech. From Rep. Al Green’s (D-TX) outburst to the performative political theatrics and hyperbolic hysteria, Democrats were widely criticized for their actions on Tuesday night. However, the most egregious display of their vitriolic hatred was when the majority of Democrats in attendance refused to stand, applaud, and cheer Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, a 13-year-old brain cancer survivor.
The party of Black Lives Matter showed that the life of a 13-year-old pediatric cancer survivor didn’t matter. This is a political party that will kneel for criminals but refuse to stand for a child with brain cancer.
DJ is a black teenager who survived a deadly disease. Six years ago, he was told he had five months to live. His life should matter, but the actions of Democrats showed that it didn’t. It is truly indicative of the character, or lack thereof, of the modern Democratic Party. The group of elected officials who constantly espouse the importance of racial diversity, the plights of “black and brown people,” and promoted Black Lives Matter couldn’t even take time to show a child cancer survivor that his black life mattered.
DJ, whose lifelong dream is to become a police officer, has had 13 brain surgeries due to his cancer. His story would make any normal person’s heart melt. When Trump appointed DJ as an honorary Secret Service agent, the look on his face was adorably priceless. Republicans erupted with thunderous applause and loudly chanted “DJ” while Democrats brooded, remaining seated. Few, if any, participated in cheering the cancer survivor. It was an utterly despicable reaction.
Keep in mind that DJ is an innocent child. He personifies everything that Democrats claim they represent. Admiration for the young boy should transcend politics. Whether one is a Democrat or Republican, conservative or liberal, right-wing or left-wing, his story matters. His life matters, and his history of overcoming overwhelming medical odds to survive matters. The strife of his family matters, as did all the pain they endured watching their son battle a horrible disease. However, none of this mattered to Democrats solely because DJ was introduced by President Trump.

And while they chose to ignore the pediatric cancer survivor, let’s not forget previous demonstrations by Democrats, including the one where they kneeled in the Capitol Rotunda in honor of a man who was sentenced to eight jail terms between 1997 and 2005, was a known drug user, and served five years in prison for breaking into a woman’s home and holding her at gunpoint by shoving a gun into her abdomen. This is who the Democrats chose as their hero. Yet they purposely decided to dishonor a black teenager who overcame brain cancer because of their irrational hatred for the president.
Nevertheless, once again, Democrats showed their true colors. By now, it’s abundantly clear that black lives don’t matter to Democrats. The only time they seem to do so is when their black lives are involved in a tragic situation that Democrats seek to exploit for political gain to obtain wealth, influence, and power.
