Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) found herself in the hot seat during a recent episode of Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso, where the podcast host pressed her on her past defense of former President Joe Biden’s mental acuity.
Fragoso directly challenged the Massachusetts senator, citing her repeated assertions up until July 2024 that Biden remained mentally sharp.
“Do you regret saying that President Biden had a mental acuity, he had a sharpness to him?” Fragoso asked Sunday. “You said that up until July of last year.”
“I said what I believed to be true,” Warren replied, standing by her past assessment.
Fragoso didn’t let up, asking, “Do you believe he was as sharp as you were?”
Warren paused, holding back laughter, and then insisted, “I said I had not seen decline. And I hadn’t at that point.”
The host followed up: “You did not see any decline from 2024 Joe Biden to 2021 Joe Biden?”
Warren held firm: “He — look, he was sharp. He was on his feet. I saw him at a live event. I had meetings with him a couple of times.”
Fragoso wasn’t buying it.
“Senator, ‘on his feet’ is not praise. ‘He can speak in sentences’ is not praise,” he bluntly said.
Warren, acknowledging the critique, responded, “Fair enough. Fair enough.”
The exchange highlights ongoing scrutiny over Democratic leaders’ past defenses of Biden’s mental fitness, even after his campaign collapsed following a damaging 2024 debate performance against President Donald Trump.
