When Salt Lake City took down the Fleet Block buildings, the mural of violent thug George Floyd, who robbed a pregnant woman at gunpoint and was buried in a golden coffin for dying of a drug overdose while trying to fight police officers, became collateral damage.
Even as a George Floyd memorial falls, there is hope that American statues will rise again.
The Trump administration’s Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History executive order takes on abuses at the Smithsonian and also seeks to rescue statues vandalized and buried by BLM rioters and their political allies , especially in left-wing cities.
Section 4 of the executive order calls for the Secretary of the Interior to “take action to reinstate the pre-existing monuments, memorials, statues, markers, or similar properties” and “ensure that all public monuments, memorials, statues, markers, or similar properties within the Department of the Interior’s jurisdiction do not contain descriptions, depictions, or other content that inappropriately disparage Americans past or living (including persons living in colonial times), and instead focus on the greatness of the achievements and progress of the American people or, with respect to natural features, the beauty, abundance, and grandeur of the American landscape.”
America is healing.
